Such a great post! I’m a psychologist by training, so the science appeals to me ;)

I love the “Kids, hurry up! We need to have fun NOW!” example; we had our own special day today, with an adventure farm and the beach, and when we were at both we heard parents nagging their children into fun rather than just sitting back and letting the kids actually have fun… it was interesting to watch and the parents’ intentions were so sweet, but all I could think is how the kids are going to remember being yelled at, rather than the parents’ intentions.

  2. Great post with lots of good ideas. You have a way of engaging my attention!

  3. This is a fantastic post! Right up my ally. I pinned and am sharing on facebook this afternoon! Thanks so much!

Such a great list of ideas — I love that you researched them and they are all “scientifically proven,” LOL! (I’m a psychologist, these things make me happy!)

  5. We love these tips, and especially Tip #4 but we have found among many big-hearted families that those who practice *intentional* acts of kindness on a regular basis do in fact enjoy many benefits that come from giving to others. We offer resources and tips to help families volunteer together and find other ways to serve others.Thank you for encouraging parents with these very doable tips.

I ordered this book. I’ve let my personal life interfere with being a happy mother. I’m a happy person. But, with stress of being a single mother with the father in the household has overcome me. I’ve lost myself trying to keep someone else. I really hope this book helps me see better clarity . I honestly never read books but I came across this page just asking google a question, I wrote down all of your suggestions as what to do in a day. I’m so ready to do these small things that will make my kids happier and confident. Great thing about them is they’re really happy but they see me sad way too much to where they’re giving me hugs to feel better. Anyway. That’s a lot I don’t know if you will even see this but to get it out feels good. And I just had an Epiphany, I need a journal. Have a great day, thank you.
